Kelsey Barnes is a baker out of Leland, Michigan that currently serves treats to the surrounding area. With a love for people, Lake Michigan, and all things beautiful, she has found a deep joy in baking simple, delicious, and beautiful treats. The passion began in her childhood home with her mom, learning to bake things like “Hubby’s Bread,” “Nana’s Biscuits,” and chocolate chip cookies. From there, the search for the perfect baked good flourished. Throughout high school, Kelsey could almost always be found holding a white platter filled with cupcakes ranging flavors from lemon blueberry, Oreo, s’mores, apple pie, and dark chocolate peanut butter, but her baking repertoire soon expanded to include breads, cakes, tarts, poptarts, scones, and pastries.
With her love of baking continuing to grow even in her busiest of moments, Kelsey began to pursue her lifelong dream of pursuing baking design more full time. The idea of The Flour Shop came to be with a deep love for flowers grown from the earth beneath our feet and flours used to bake delicious sweets. In hopes of allowing simplicity to speak for itself, The Flour Shop uses the highest quality ingredients and minimal sugary decorations. By baking for local gatherings, special events, and weddings, The Flour Shop works to provide baked goods that will create a special centerpiece for the beauty and love of the people enjoying their sweets, regardless of the occasion.
